Just want to get something off my mind

I heard this guy Martin Rooney speak this weekend and he made me think. Well first, the title of his talk was, "The art of exceptional training". Wonderful speaker- high energy, very excited, funny- kind of like me. A take-away point he made with me was that our (my) education gets in the way of our learning. I think I know it all (from and exercise standpoint anyway). I don't really think that, but the point is I have roughly 6 years of college, 2 degrees in the exercise field, several well sought after certifications (all this knowledge) and that tends to close (or use to close) me off to new ideas. What Mr. Rooney asked, and what I ask is for you to open your mind, and empty it of what you think you know. Allow yourself to absorb new ideas and this absorption might even further solidify where you stand know, but don't shoot something down just because your 11th grade track coach had you do it, so that must be right. Or don't tell me that you are a doctor and you know better, when in all your medical school (8+ years) you spent about 15 minutes learning about diet and exercise. Some of my ideas might be controversial or even silly, but YOU SHOULDN'T MAKE THAT JUDGEMENT UNTIL YOU TRY IT FOR YOURSELF. Try it (something new that makes you feel uncomfortable inside) and if it makes you better, hell keep doing it, and on the flip-side if you still don't like it... no harm no foul. So Read further only if your cup is empty.

yours in the pursuit
Drew
